2 · Quest goals

1. Survive the duel: defeat Drake in the stone circle before he shoots.

3 · Narrative context

Synopsis. Wade has finally cornered Drake, the man who raised him as a bounty hunter but turned out to be the murderer of his mother and his brother, Homerus. Drake is actually Wade’s real biological father, and he has lied to him his entire life, manipulating him and hiding the truth for his own benefit. Inside a stone circle sacred to the Native Americans, the two face each other in a ritual duel to the very last bullet, to settle accounts once and for all.

4 · Gameplay and flow

Phase 1 · Cutscene CP_MIS06_SSC03

Context. Drake is on the ground, aching from the previous fight, but still laughing with the arrogance of a man who believes he still owns his “apprentice”. Wade stands over him, consumed by anger.

Script register: clipped and sardonic. Two men who have lied to each other for years; the menace sits under the calm.

OUTDOOR – MAP_STONECIRCLE

Drake is on the ground, aching but unhurt.

DRAKE

(on the ground, in pain. He laughs)

Yeah, Wade, you did it. You did it well.

WADE

(genuinely angry)

You’re... the biggest son of a bitch I’ve ever met!

Drake gets back on his feet and straightens himself up.

DRAKE

I’ve taught you the reason for certain choices all my life. One reason: money. And you followed me... son.

WADE

(shouting)

Don’t you dare call me that!

DRAKE

(laughs)

But you are! I saved you as a child! They would’ve killed you. No one gives a fuck about a child in this country!

WADE

(furious)

You killed my mother. You killed my brother. You lied!

DRAKE

(calmly)

You did too. It’s our trade. What matters is the bounty. This is how we survive.

Wade regains his composure. He remains implacable.

WADE

(calm again, but still relentless)

You’re right. You always told me the same thing… a bounty hunter lives off the reward.

(beat)

The government put a bounty on your head, like the natives. Yours must have been pretty big.

DRAKE

(laughs)

Bullshit! I’m clean now, Wade!

WADE

No. No, you ain’t. You never will be. But I want to give you a chance. Like the one you gave to me.

DRAKE

(laughs)

You going to start calling me father?

SFX_GUN&CHARGE

Wade loads a gun with a single bullet and throws it to Drake.

DRAKE

What does this mean?

WADE

It’s Homerus’ gun. The son you killed twice. It just has one bullet... like mine.

DRAKE

(sneers)

I’ve always been a better shot than you!

WADE

You’re right. But you ain’t got no other way out.

(beat, bitter smile)

Funny. We’re in a stone circle...

DRAKE

I can see.

WADE

My brother showed me one before he died. It’s a sacred symbol... for my people.

DRAKE

(laughing heartily)

Your people!? That’s a good one! I don’t know what Homerus told you, but you’re not one of them, boy!

WADE

My mother was. My brother was partly. And I’m partly too.

DRAKE

Then you must die!

Phase 2 · The duel (gameplay CP_MIS06_INGAME_2)

Mechanic. Seamless transition (no loading screens) from the cutscene to an audio duel mode.

Phase 3 · The catharsis (cutscene CP_MIS06_SSC04)

Context. The bullet hit its mark. Drake lies dead on the ground and the air is thick with dust. Wade holsters his gun, walks slowly toward the body and closes accounts with his past for good.

OUTDOOR – MAP_STONECIRCLE

Drake is hit and falls to the ground with a heavy thud.

DRAKE

(a choked, wet cough)

…

SFX_footstep

Wade approaches his biological father’s corpse.

WADE

Now I can call you father.

SFX_horses

Wade mounts his horse and rides away as the music swells into a tragic theme.

NotesSetup and payoff: Drake’s mocking question returns, reversed, as Wade’s last line. Place as meaning: the stone circle is sacred to Wade’s mother’s people; it gives the duel a setting with meaning and lets Wade claim an identity Drake denies him.
